It was an honour to be invited by the Ambassador of Sweden 🇸🇪 to Nigeria 🇳🇬 Her Excellency, Anna Westerholm, to attend *Sweden’s National Day Celebration and 65 Years of Sweden–Nigeria Relations* It was my profound privilege to be part of the celebration marking Sweden's National Day and the 65th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Sweden and Nigeria, graciously hosted in Abuja Nigeria. The event brought together distinguished diplomats, government officials, business leaders, development partners, and members of the international community to commemorate a remarkable milestone in the longstanding friendship between the Kingdom of Sweden and the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1961, Sweden and Nigeria have maintained strong ties built on mutual respect, cooperation, innovation, trade, sustainable development, education, and people-to-people exchanges. Over the past six and a half decades, both nations have worked together to advance economic growth, technological innovation, environmental sustainability, gender equality, and social development. In her remarks, H.E. Anna Westerho`lm highlighted the importance of the enduring partnership between Sweden and Nigeria, emphasizing the shared commitment of both countries to fostering inclusive growth, strengthening bilateral cooperation, and creating opportunities for future generations. The celebration also served as a reflection on the achievements recorded over the years and a reaffirmation of the commitment to deepening relations in the years ahead. The occasion showcased Sweden’s rich cultural heritage while celebrating the growing collaboration between Swedish and Nigerian institutions across various sectors.
